I know through social media that I have followers in Shanghai and in China as a whole, so I’m really pleased to be able to bring my work to them at long last and I hope that as many people as possible will be able to visit the exhibition and see my work first-hand for the first time. I have collaborated with K11 twice before, in 2019 and again in 2021, but never in Shanghai. I am super excited to be having my first-ever museum show and it is a real privilege to have this take place at K11 and in Shanghai. Why did you choose Shanghai and K11 for your museum debut and not elsewhere in the world? And why now? Eventually we came to a style we agreed on and the work for the show began! It was a real joy creating samples of the work for the show, Mrs Doodle and I explored a real range of options for colouring and even asked Instagram followers which they thought was best. We discussed a few options internally with my studio but we all came to the decision that the best option was to create a show based around my marriage to Mrs Doodle, which hadn’t yet happened at that time. I was thrilled by the opportunity and instantly began coming up with ideas. The experience was really fun and we had a pretty big audience watching me doodle which was awesome!Īfter this project, K11 approached my gallerist Pearl Lam of Pearl Lam Galleries and inquired about the opportunity for me to do a solo show at chi K11 art museum in Shanghai. At that time it was in Hong Kong, and I was invited by K11 to doodle on some furniture and a wall at K11 MUSEA.
